Green Deen South Africa

Green Deen South Africa is an initiative of the Union of Muslim Students’ Associations of South Africa which aims to raise awareness and mobilise action in the South African Muslim community about current environmental issues. Green Deen South seeks to achieve this by creating a platform of communication, information sharing and collaboration.

This initiative brings to the forefront the relationship between Islam and the environment. The initiative kicked off last year with the national Green Week (7-13 October 2013). We will Insha-Allah continue on our path as a national platform to motivate, advise and gain support for and from individuals, communities, schools and Masaajid to start and strengthen their own green projects as well as join and support existing green programmes in South Africa. The Green Deen Team intends to host their annual Green Week every year Insha-allah.
